Bake Sale Extravaganza
The SUGAR & STILETTOS Bake Sale Extravaganza for Charity
on May 21, 2011 was a HUGE success! We raised over $7,000.00 for the Westside Food Bank and St. Joseph Center's Food Pantry...OOH LA LA...quel bonheur!
Not only did we raise all that money, thus enabling our two charitable organizations to literally feed hundreds of women and children, we had a BLAST doing it. There were stilettos, tiaras and pink S & S aprons everywhere you looked. There were so many delectable sweet treats and so much incredible merchandise that it was almost overwhelming. Laughing and music filled the air throughout the day...and then there was the piece de resistance...my friend, comedian Richard Lewis, donned a pair of stilettos and a tiara causing virtually a plethora of cameras to simultaneously go flashing...it was absolutely PRICELESS!

In addition to baked goods from LA's TOP baking professionals, there were home baked goods, raffle items to bid on, Celeb appearances (Richard Lewis), autographed books by famous bakers, gift certificates/baskets to buy plus several S & S signature items…

"Spreading sweet inspiration one treat at at time."
One of the most important aspects of the SUGAR & STILETTOS BAKING CLUB is the charitable arm. I determined early on in the process of developing this idea that turning the passions and talents of the wondrous women of the club into a community based outreach program was essential. What better way to express our humanity than to help our fellow women feed their children.
We have chosen two charities to partner with for our big event.
 Westside Food Bank services 65 agencies from West LA to Culver City to Santa Monica to Venice to Inglewood delivering approximately 4 million pounds of food to people in need...at least half of whom are children. Our donation will specifically go to purchase child friendly items (i.e. baby foods, peanut butter, etc).
 St. Joseph's Center has a wide range of services helping low income and at-risk families. Our donation there will go to their Family Center Food Pantry. Both organizations will be at the BAKE SALE EXTRAVAGANZA with brochures and other information ready to answer any and all questions about their vital, life altering work with our most vulnerable fellow citizens.
